FFKM alternative – use Perlast

Perfluoroelastomers are well regarded as the ultimate high performance sealing material for the most challenging and critical applications. So when the supply of FFKM seals is limited, it can severely interrupt your production schedules and impact profitability. A reliable alternative, such as Perlast®, complemented by our class leading manufacturing lead-times will minimise supply disruption and downtime.

If you need an FFKM alternative, here are 4 reasons why you should consider Perlast® from PPE ….

Perlast FFKM sealing solution

Why Perlast® is considered an excellent FFKM option?

You may have experienced difficulties in obtaining some perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) grades; this is due to a number of factors which, when combined, have created a global supply chain problem. A global shortage of polymer ingredients, sanctions on Russia, the energy crisis in China, high demand from specialist markets, the impact of Covid, and some manufacturing plants being offline, have all played their part.

Perlast® perfluoroelastomers are not facing the same supply shortages that are affecting other FFKM grades.  PPE can manufacture Perlast® O-rings and seals in lead-times of approximately 30 days; if we have stock, components can be shipped the same day.

Perlast® materials provide a broad temperature range to offer a comprehensive Cold²Hot FFKM capability from -46°C (-51°F) up to +350°C (662°F).  Whatever the application or sealing challenge, there will be a Perlast® material to suit, with consistent performance.

Perlast® perfluoroelastomers are proven to provide almost universal chemical resistance, even in some of the most inhospitable environments.  You won’t sacrifice any chemical resistance if you choose Perlast® over other FFKMs – in certain applications Perlast® outperforms competitor grades, especially in amines and steam.

Our teams of engineers and material scientists have been helping some of the most successful companies in the world with their sealing challenges for many years.  If you need to requalify alte ative FFKM materials, speak to our team about samples and testing.  We are happy to provide seal and hardware design advice, material recommendations and technical assistance, with the aim of becoming your preferred sealing partner.
