Problem
Current FKM seal is lasting <8000 running hours, causing unplanned dry docks at €100,000 per day.
Solution
PPE selected a highly fluorinated FKM with high temperature capability coping with switching of fuels between heavy fuel oil (HFO) to light fuel oil (LFO).
Outcome
Field testing proved that the PPE FKM performed without any failure to 12,000 running hours and is now the specified elastomer for the Fuel Injection Valve.
