Precision Polymer Engineering has made a significant investment in the future of materials science by upgrading its thermal analysis equipment with advanced instrumentation from NETZSCH.
This investment marks a major milestone in the company’s commitment to innovation, quality assurance, and sustainable product development.
Upgrading for Insight and Innovation
The newly installed instruments replace aging equipment in the Materials Laboratory, significantly expanding the lab’s analytical capabilities. These tools will enable the team to gain a deeper understanding of thermal behaviour, stability and mechanical response of elastomeric materials. Insights that are crucial for the development of high performance seals and components.
“We’re now equipped to generate more detailed data to drive smarter decisions across R&D and quality processes.” said Dr Samia Saleemi, materials Laboratory Technician at PPE.
Enhanced Capabilities at a Glance
The upgraded lab includes:
- Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC): Identifies critical transitions such as glass transition temperatures and melting points
- Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA): Provides insights into thermal degradation and material composition.
- Thermomechanical Analysis (TMA): Enables precise measurement of dimensional changes under temperature and load which is crucial for long-term performance.
Supporting Sustainability and Product Longevity
Beyond technical improvements, the investment supports our wider sustainability goals by enabling more efficient material development and extending product life cycles.
“We’re focused on delivering high-quality, high performance solutions while also reducing our environmental footprint,” added Saleemi. “These new capabilities directly support that mission.”
Commenting from Netzsch, Andrew Mould, Technical Sales Specialist said “Since installation and commissioning , our service and analysis training departments have been working closely with Precision Polymer Engineering to increase mutual understanding of their thermal analysis requirements. It clear to us that Precision Polymer Engineering wants to take their analysis to new levels. This is the kind of long-term customer/supplier relationship that Netzsch instrument likes to promote as we gain valuable feedback from the customer“.
