Underpinned by over 40 years of engineering integrity, the new PPE website is centred around our experts’ insights on polymer sealing solutions for global industrial applications.
How we got here
Founded by Peter Cummings in 1975, our Blackburn-based polymer experts soon upgraded to larger premises, employing 29 local people with a turnover of £1m. Back then, our efforts were largely concentrated in large power generation and marine diesel.
PPE introduced Perlast in the 1990s, and by the millennium we were accepting orders for the US markets. By this point, we had also reached a £4m turnover and had expanded our product offering to serve a diverse of industries.
In 2003 we moved into our purpose-built factory, complete with a class 10,000 cleanroom. Two years later we opened a sales office in San Jose, California. In the years to follow, we also expanded our sales operations in EU countries Asia and USA.
2010 saw the acquisition of PPE by IDEX Sealing Solutions. This enabled PPE to join with fellow industry-leaders in Novotema S.p.A and FTL Technology. With this well-balanced pooling of products and services, the IDEX Sealing Solutions group is an excellent position to provide optimal levels of service across all kinds of critical applications and industries.
