New ISO9001 and AS9100 Approvals

Precision Polymer Engineering is pleased to confirm our successfully completed transition from ISO9001:2008 to ISO9001:2015, and AS9100 Rev C to AS9100 Rev D.

These key quality approvals reflect the determination of Precision Polymer Engineering to lead the way in terms of customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and sustained growth and success.

ISO9001 is the flagship quality management systems standard, with over 1.1 million certificates issued across the world. The 2015 revision of the ISO9001 standard incorporates a series of important changes, representing a broader focus on managing performance ahead of documenting processes and procedures.

Currently, fewer than 6% of UK aerospace suppliers and 7% of global aerospace suppliers have successfully completed this transition to the new standards, marking what is a significant achievement for Precision Polymer Engineering.

Nigel Croft, Chair of the ISO subcommittee which headed the development and revision of the standard, explains: “We are bringing ISO9001 firmly into the 21st century. Knowing that today’s organizations will have several management standards in place, we have designed the 2015 version to be easily integrated with other management systems. The new version also provides a solid base for sector-quality standards, and takes into account the needs of regulators.”

AS9100 Rev D was issued in October 2016, with nine new and revised areas requiring compliance. These include amends to Product Safety, Preventative Action, Project Management and Configuration Management.

The impact of AS9100 Rev D goes beyond technical compliances, encouraging organizations as a whole to consider how they deliver value to customers, ahead of how their functions operate. The approach is much more holistic, with staff engagement and coherent teamwork strategies underpinning what is a more inclusive approach to value management.

The auditing process for these new certifications took four days, preceded by months of preparation from departments across the business. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all those involved in the process, ensuring Precision Polymer Engineering remains fully compliant with all regulatory requirements.
