Gemma Lonsdale is taking part in the National Three Peaks Challenge, where she'll be attempting to climb the UK's three highest mountains - and all within just 24 hours!
Gemma, Internal Account Manager at PPE, is attempting this challenge together with her partner Dave Ramsdale, in memory of Dave's father, who recently passed away following a recent battle with cancer.
"Raising funds for Cancer Research is a way for us to say thank you to everyone involved in providing treatment and care for Dave's father throughout his illness, and keep funding the necessary research to beat cancer," said Gemma.
"It's also a way to appreciate the work of the consultants and nurses who were there to help my own dad on his road to recovery following his scare with cancer. We're hoping we can raise £100 per peak for a cause which is really close to both our hearts."
The three mountains involved in the National Three Peaks Challenge are Snowdon, in Wales (1085m), Scafell Pike, in England (978m), and Ben Nevis, in Scotland (1,345m). The challenge covers a total walking distance of 37km, with a total ascent of 3,064m - not to mention a total driving distance of 462 miles.
All support and contributions are greatly welcomed. You can donate to Gemma and Dave's fundraising page here, and help scientists beat cancer sooner.
