Authentic seal spec protects against poor performance
One of the world’s leading international oil and gas companies operating 9 platforms in the North Sea replacing 100 valves per day, approx 2000 valves per platform.
Problem
Client experienced 200 litre oil leak due to O-ring failure in hose assembly on North Sea Rig, leading to concerns about OEM bill of material and traceability in light of disaster in Gulf of Mexico.
Solution
PPE carried out failure analysis testing, the findings determined that the O-ring was not in the material specified by the hose manufacturer and the failure was due to mechanical damage.
Result
Client has standardized on one elastomer material, PPE’s EnDura® V91A which is specified for all valve applications in topside arrangements seeing -46°C (-51°F).
