Application
Specialist metal processing facility carrying out melting and forging of titanium.
Problem
Large O-rings (up to 1400mm/4.5ft diameter and 14mm/ 0.5" cross section) are used to seal the furnaces/plasma weld chambers, vital in the melting of the titanium at 1200°C/2192°F. Contamination of the potassium sulphate coolant into the molten titanium would result in an explosion capable of destroying the facility.
Solution
