Innovative new low temperature perfluoroelastomer goes sub-zero
Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE), a leading manufacturer of high performance sealing solutions has launched Perlast ICE G75LT, a revolutionary low temperature perfluoroelastomer material for use in oil and gas applications. Perlast ICE G75LT is the latest innovation to be introduced to the market by PPE, developed to perform under extreme conditions, in temperatures as low as -40°C (-40°F).
The material offers the thermal and chemical resistance superiority associated with perfluoroelastomers (FFKM) but now with extremely low temperature capabilities. The exceptional low temperature properties are achieved by polymer structure changes, rather than additive techniques, which provides reliable, repeatable and sustained sealing performance.
Perlast ICE is well suited to pumps, valves and equipment, stored or operated in low temperatures, in downstream and upstream applications where aggressive chemical conditions exist. With exploration, production and transportation being carried out in increasingly hostile, sub-zero environments, companies are seeking innovative sealing solutions that perform consistently, add value and are easy to source.
Perlast ICE has been developed in response to demand from companies operating in areas such as Alaska, Canada, Scandinavia and Russia where temperatures can remain well below the capabilities of traditional perfluoroelastomers for much of the year.
