Quality Assurance

Quality Control

Precision Polymer Engineering monitors all manufactured orders using the following quality control techniques:-

First-off Inspection
Examination and measurement of the first component(s) produced from the mould at the start of each manufactured order.

In-process Inspection
Visual examination of parts during production using 4X magnification.

Final Inspection (Audit)
Inspection of samples taken from each manufactured order in accordance with ISO2859-1 "Sampling procedure for inspection by attributes".

Materials Testing

The following material test equipment is used at PPE:-

Rheometer
Determination of the cure characteristics for raw materials.

Digital Densimeter
Determination of specific gravity. Also used to measure volume and weight change following air ageing and/or immersion testing.

Tensometer
Measurement of tensile strength, elongation at break, modulus and tear strength of elastomeric materials.

Hardness tester
Measurement of hardness performed on plane, parallel cylindrical test buttons.

QC Part Measurement

The following state-of-the-art measuring equipment is used at PPE:-

Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMM'S)
All CMM's are fully CNC controlled, non-contact, camera-based systems which utilise video-edge detection.

Digital Verniers and Gauges
Low measuring force gauges (down to 0.2N) and digital verniers are used to compliment the CMM's for simple measurement tasks.

Hardness Testing
Micro-hardness test equipment, capable of accurate measurement of both flat and curved rubber surfaces (ie. O-rings).

System Overview

In line with ISO9001:2000, the Quality Management System embraces the methodology known as 'Plan-Do-Check-Act' ....

Plan - Establish the objectives and processes necessary to deliver results in accordance with customer requirements and PPE policies.

Do - Implement the processes.

Check - Monitor and measure processes and product against policies, objectives and requirements and report the results.

Act - Take actions to continually improve process performance.
