PPE develops moulded platinum-cured silicone O-rings Moulded O-ring seals for food production, brewing and pharmaceutical equipment. |

Until recently process engineers and equipment manufacturers have had to make platinum-cured silicone O-rings by joining the ends of extruded silicone cord. Inevitably these seals lack the strength, integrity and reliability of a moulded O-ring and fail to meet increasingly rigourous hygenic processing standards. The platinum-cured, silicone seal geometries include O-rings and hygenic designs suitable for CIP (Clean-in-place). The seals are resistant to repeated sterilising and cleaning agents commonly used in food, brewing and pharmaceutical production. |

Platinum-cured silicone offers high levels of purity. In the brewing industry, for example, this has the advantage of eliminating the risk of tainting the taste of beers, a common problem with standard silicones. All PPE platinum-cured, silicone seals are complaint with FDA requirements, as well as meeting USP Class VI and Water Research Council approvals. Available in Shore 65 and Shore 70 hardness, the platinum-cured silicone seals provide excellent mechanical and physical properties and chemical stability over the temperature range +60°C to +200°C. PPE also offers an extensive range of traditional peroxide-cured silicone grades and fluorosilicone grades. Platinum-cured silicone grades: |
